Workshops:
Homework Policy
The majority of pupils who attend the workshops are given
homework assignments to complete. At Superior Tutors we believe
that this is an important part of the pupil’s progress
and that it helps to ensure that a partnership is created
between parents/carers, teacher and pupil. Homework reinforces
concepts covered during the workshop, and helps pupils consolidate
or practice basic skills and knowledge. It encourages pupils
to develop independent study skills, to improve on their organization
skills, time management and presentation. Homework encourages
pupils to be more responsible, and it has the potential to
raise standards.
Most homework arises out of classwork. The nature, type and
length of homework will vary according to the age and current
level of attainment of the pupil. Homework will be set on
a regular basis, and pupils will be encouraged to develop
good homework skills. The DFEE has published the following
guidelines.
Reception to Year 2 - 10 - 20 minutes (per day)
Years 3 & 4 - 20 - 30 minutes (per day)
Year 5 & 6 35 - 55 minutes (per day)
Years 7 to 9 20-30 minutes for each subject, (per week)
Years 10 to 11 30-45 minutes for each subject, (per week)
